WebGateway™
It is crucial for laboratories to provide physicians and other caregivers the tools and information required to provide the highest quality patient care. This means access to patient clinical data quickly and easily. Aspyra offers WebGateway™ to assist organizations with providing their clients and other remote locations access to the laboratory information system (LIS) for patient order entry and results inquiry via a standard web browser.
WebGateway is tailored to meet the outreach needs of your organization and laboratory and to be utilized as a marketable tool or added service that your facility can provide to clients. The following describes just some of the features and benefits you and your clients will experience with WebGateway:
Order Entry
Physicians and other caregivers may input orders directly into CyberLAB to reduce data entry errors, expedite the patient processing cycle and increase productivity in your laboratory. Order Entry features include:
Commonly Ordered Tests - Shorten order input time by designing groups of smaller test lists by user class for physicians or other users that place orders (i.e. OB Physicians, Respiratory Department, etc.). Users maintain access to the complete CyberLAB test dictionary but may use the smaller listing for more frequently ordered tests.
Ask at Order Prompts and Messages - Prevent incomplete orders! Define test-level questions and instructions that display at Order entry when that test is ordered (i.e. prompt for weight, height, patient fasting, etc.) This can be used to supplement the order with required or optional information, or to remind users of special handling procedures. Less call backs, less redraws!
Order Entry Decision Support - Route ordered tests to approved performing laboratories based on payor (i.e. HMO) without user intervention. Prevents tests from being performed in-house or routed to other laboratories that are not approved for performing the ordered test, based on insurance or other payor rules.
MNV Checking - Utilize the CyberLAB medical necessity validation (MNV) feature to generate waivers (ABN) for patient signature at the time of order placement, thus increasing laboratory revenue by reducing the number of write-offs performed.
In this module, you also set parameters for Cytology, Differential, Collection, Urinalysis, General Systems, and Microbiology if you select that enhancement. Security controls, Interim Report Rules, Result Response Rules and Medical Necessity Validation (MNV) Rules are found here. The Client Master contains all the authorized doctors and other caregivers who order lab work, and the Comment Master lists all predefined comment codes.
Barcode Label Generation - Print barcode labels to physician office or other remote printer. Ensures patient safety by allowing the clinician to affix the label to the specimen before it is transported to the laboratory.
Patient Inquiry
Provides tools to adhere to the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) that mandates privacy and security regulations, among other areas, for patient medical records. The CyberLAB system tools include user classification and password security, function-specific accessibility, and safeguards for confidential tests and patient confidentiality.
WebGateway allows physicians to get the data they need, when they need it! This accessibility reduces the number of phone calls placed into the laboratory by physician office personnel. The Patient Inquiry module provides clinicians with many tools including: real-time result inquiry, abnormal result flagging and reference ranges, trend and graph analysis, clinical notes entry and view, secure access to patient results by client or groups of clients, sample tracking, intuitive help functions, on-demand patient clinical report printing.
Physicians Review List - List-Allows each physician to manage their view of newly reported and released results. The list takes the guesswork out of “what's new” since it is populated real-time with newly posted results. Doctors may select to remove results as viewed, maintain results in their current view list, skip for later review, etc. This feature helps the health care provider respond to any patient care situation and ensures patient safety by allowing only those with proper security level access to view patient health records.
Online Documentation - CyberLAB user documentation may be accessed online, providing users with immediate assistance to module functionality and usage.
Connectivity
Aspyra's WebGateway module may be configured over a public (Internet) or private (Intranet) network. Access security can be defined at the user level so that each user may view only certain patient information. HIPAA compliant security measures are built into WebGateway to ensure the confidentiality of patient information at each step.
Intranet Configuration
When WebGateway is employed over a local area network (LAN), the software components may be loaded and configured on the existing CyberLAB LIS server in most cases. CyberLAB data may then be accessed via any PC on the LAN using Microsoft® Internet Explorer version 6.0 or later.
Internet + Intranet Configuration
When WebGateway is employed over a local area network (LAN), the software components may be loaded and configured on the existing CyberLAB LIS server in most cases. CyberLAB data may then be accessed via any PC on the LAN using Microsoft® Internet Explorer version 6.0 or later.
The following components maintain data security: Firewall: An Internet security appliance that protects your Internet-connected LAN from hackers and intruders. This device allows Internet users to access public servers without compromising network security.
Internet Appliance: This device hosts the WebGateway software and provides a Web browser front-end to the CyberLAB data.
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Certificate: This certificate allows you to give secure access to authorized users. SSL protects all communications with your PCs, so sensitive patient information may be safely transmitted. SSL security makes eavesdropping on your Web traffic nearly impossible.
